Using Your Inbox and Live Inbox to File Email to an Event

How the Inbox page and the Live inbox show recent mail from your connected mailbox without storing it, and how to file a message to an event.

Most mail reaches an event automatically, but sometimes you want to file one message yourself, or check what is waiting before routing decides. Your Inbox and the Live inbox show your recent mail so you can do that. Both need a connected mailbox.

The Live Inbox Reads Mail Without Storing It

The Live inbox reads your most recent messages, up to 100 per mailbox, directly from Microsoft each time you open it. BackOps does not keep these messages. Opening one reads its body, recipients, and attachment details live. Attachments are listed but cannot be kept from the live inbox. Filing the message to an event stores it, and its attachments, on the event.

File a Message to an Event

Open the Live inbox

In the Communications window, select Live inbox. On the Inbox page, live messages appear in the same list as stored mail.

Select a message

Its body opens on the right.

Choose the event

Use Link to an event and pick the event, then select Link. On the Inbox page, use File to event and choose from your organizations' events.

Filing the same message to the same event again does nothing, so it is safe to repeat.

Inbox, Needs Triage, and Landed

The Inbox page lists stored and live mail together, newest first, with a count of unread messages. Needs triage shows only messages waiting for you to choose an event. In the Communications window, Landed lists the messages already routed to an event.
