Triaging Email That Matches Several Events

How to use Needs triage to choose the event for a message that could belong to more than one, and what the suggested events mean.

Triage is the step where you decide which event a message belongs to when BackOps cannot decide alone. It happens when the people on a message are contacts on more than one of your events, for example a venue manager who appears on three shows. BackOps holds the message under Needs triage and offers each possible event as a suggestion.

Find Messages Waiting for Triage

Open Communications from the top bar and select Needs triage, or open Inbox and choose Needs triage. The count beside the label is how many messages are waiting.

Choose the Event

Select the message

Open it from the list to read it in full.

Review the suggestions

Each suggested event is labeled with the contact that matched, so you can see why BackOps proposed it.

Choose the event

Select the event, or use File to event and pick from Suggested.

The message moves to that event's Communications tab and leaves the triage list. If a message shows No suggested events, there is nothing to choose from here. Your inbox and live inbox explains how to file a message to an event by hand.

To stop the same venue or vendor landing in triage every time, map the folder you keep that thread in. See folder mappings.

Where Routed Mail Goes

Landed in the Communications window lists the messages that BackOps has already routed to an event. If an event's Communications tab shows a message marked Needs triage, resolve it from your own Communications window; the event tab does not offer the choice.
