Managing Your Notification Preferences

How to choose in-app and email delivery, set the email address for notifications, and turn individual notification types on or off in your settings.

Your notification preferences decide how each kind of notification reaches you. They belong to you, so changing them never affects teammates. Everything is on by default, so you only need to visit this page to quiet something down.

Open Notification Settings

Open your settings

Select the gear icon in the notification inbox, or open your account settings from within an organization.

Select Notifications

The tab lists your delivery options and a section for each group of notification types.

Choose How Notifications Are Delivered

The Delivery section has three settings.

Notification email is the address email notifications go to. Email notifications turns every email notification on or off. In-app notifications turns every in-app notification on or off, and with it every email notification (see below). Changes in this section take effect when you select save. Email notifications need an address, so turning them on without one asks you to add it.

Push and text message delivery appear in BackOps's preference model, but nothing is delivered over them today. Email and in-app are the channels you can use.

Choose Which Types You Receive

Below Delivery, each group (events, tasks, files, and so on) has a table with a row per notification type and a switch for Email and In-App. The switches apply on top of the delivery settings above, so a type is delivered on a channel only when both the channel and the type are on. Email depends on in-app: a type is emailed only while it is also on for In-App, so turning off In-app notifications, or a type's In-App switch, stops its email too.

To see and change the items you follow in a group, select the arrow beside the group's name. That opens following and muting.
