Following, Muting, and Unsubscribing from Notifications
How BackOps subscribes you to items automatically, and how to follow other items, mute a subscription, unsubscribe, and manage organization activity.
A subscription is what connects you to an item so its activity can notify you. Most subscriptions are created for you. This page explains where they come from and how to change them.
How BackOps Subscribes You
BackOps subscribes you based on your involvement:
- Tasks: when you create a task, are assigned to it, or are added as a reviewer.
- Files: when you upload a file or are added as a reviewer.
- Activities: when you create one.
- Advances: when you request one, review it, or are the collaborator it is assigned to.
- Procurement: when you create a request or are assigned to it, and through a department that owns it.
- Events: when you are added to the event as a collaborator.
Each subscription records its reason, so you can see why you are following something.
Manage Your Subscriptions
Open notification settings
Open a group
Change a subscription
The status of a subscription is one of four:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Active | You are notified about the item. |
| Muted | You stay subscribed but are not notified. Choose Unmute to turn it back on. |
| Unsubscribed | You asked to stop following. BackOps will not quietly re-add you later. Choose Resubscribe to follow again. |
| Not subscribed | You are not following the item. |
An unsubscribe is sticky on purpose. If you were added automatically, for instance as a department's owner, and you unfollow, a later event on the same item does not subscribe you again.
Follow from the Item Itself
Some items have a Follow button, shown as Following once you follow it. Today it appears on the need sheet in the organization's resource coverage view.
Organization Activity
Events being created or drafted are organization-level activity. Turn following of organization activity on or off for yourself, and choose which of those types notify through your preferences.
