Resource States, Schedule Block Types and Categories
Reference for the resource states that rate cards price, the block types that classify scheduled time such as Work or Meal, and the categories that group resource types.
Rate cards and rule sets refer to a few shared lists: states, block types and categories. Organization admins manage each one on its own tab in Resource Templates, and an event keeps its own copies under the event's Resources settings. This page describes what each list is for and what limits apply.
Resource States
A state is how a resource's time is classified at a moment, such as Regular, Overtime, Double time or Holiday pay. States are the link between rules and prices: a rule moves time into a state, and a rate card row says what that state costs and charges.
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Name | The state's name, shown on rate cards, rules and schedules. |
| Color and icon | How the state's badge looks. |
| Archived | Hides the state from new choices while keeping it on records that use it. |
New states are added to the end of the list. A state that a rule, threshold, rate, block type or reservation uses cannot be deleted. Archive it instead.
Schedule Block Types
A block type classifies a stretch of scheduled time, for example Work, Meal, Setup or Strike. Every schedule block on a need or reservation has a block type.
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Name and Label | How the block type is named and displayed. |
| Color | The block's color on schedules. |
| Default state | The state a block of this type starts in, which sets its base rate. None (unpaid) gives the block no base rate. |
| Archived | Keeps the block type on existing blocks but stops it being offered for new ones. |
Block types drive two other features. A Block duration rule counts only the time spent in its Tracked block type, so meals do not count toward overtime. A rate card's billing clock can start a new billing period after a block of a given type. A block type that a rule, reset condition, billing clock or reservation uses cannot be deleted. Archive it instead.
Categories
A category groups resource types so they are easier to find, for example Vehicles, Audio or Labor. Every resource type belongs to one category, which you pick when you add the type, and you can add a new category from that same field. A category has a name, an icon and a color. A category that still has resource types in it cannot be deleted.
