Task Reviews, Approvals, and Comments

How reviewers approve or request changes on an event task, why a task with reviewers cannot be marked done until all of them approve, and how task comments work.

A review is a reviewer's sign-off on a task. Adding reviewers to a task turns it into a task that needs approval: it cannot be marked done until every reviewer has approved it. Use reviews for work someone else has to accept, such as a stage plot the venue must sign off or a budget the producer must approve.

Add Reviewers

Open the task and choose people under Reviewers. Reviewers are crew members on the event. Each one is subscribed to the task, so they hear about changes to it.

Submit a Review

If you are a reviewer, open the task. Its Reviews section lists every reviewer and where each one stands. Select Submit review and choose:

  • Approve, when the work is accepted.
  • Request changes, when it needs another pass.

Submitting again replaces your earlier review. A reviewer who has not answered yet shows an empty checkbox.

The Approval Gate

While any reviewer has not approved, the task cannot move to a status whose state is Done. That holds everywhere a status can change: the task panel, a Kanban drag, and a bulk edit. Kanban explains why it refused the move.

Moving a task out of Done, to any state other than Archived, clears its reviews. The reviewers have to approve again before it can return to Done, so a reopened task is never waved through on an old approval.

Comments

Every task has a Comments thread for discussion, questions, and handoffs. Anyone with access to the event can comment. When you request changes, leave a comment saying what needs another pass, so the assignee does not have to ask.
