The Dynamic Docs editor, blocks and live event fields
The blocks you can add to a dynamic document with the slash menu, from headings and columns to images and Drive files, plus live event fields and mentions.
A dynamic document is written in a full-page editor that works like a modern notes app. Type to write, and type / to open the block menu and insert anything else. This page is a reference for what the editor can hold.
Blocks
The / menu groups blocks into four sets.
| Group | Blocks |
|---|---|
| Format | Text, Heading 1, Heading 2, Heading 3, Bullet List, Numbered List, To-do List, Quote, Code |
| Insert | Data Table, Crew Roster, Activity Schedule, Request Summary, Advance Overview, Contact List, Field / Attribute, Horizontal Rule, Table of Contents |
| Layout | 2 Columns, 3 Columns, 4 Columns, Table, Callout, Toggle, Page Break |
| Media | Image, Video, File |
Data Table and the five presets after it are query blocks, the live data blocks. Table is an ordinary table you type into. Page Break starts a new page when the document is printed.
Image uploads or takes a dropped or pasted picture; uploaded images count against your organization's storage allowance. Video embeds a YouTube video. File attaches a file from the event Drive, so a stage plot or rider sits in the document while still living in Files.
Live Event Fields
Type {{, or pick Field / Attribute from the menu, to insert a live field in the middle of a sentence. The list has Event fields, such as the event name and notes, and Event attributes, the custom fields defined for the event. The field shows the current value every time the document opens, so a sentence that names the event never goes stale. Fields come from the event only; for collaborator, area or crew data, use a query block.
Mentions
Type @ to mention a crew member or collaborator by name in the text.
