Using the Gantt Timeline Layout in a Data View
How the Gantt layout draws records as bars on a timeline, groups rows by a field, splits bars at extra dates, and lets you reschedule by dragging.
The Gantt layout draws each record as a bar on a timeline, so you can see how tasks, procurements or events overlap across the days and weeks of a production. It is available on pages whose records have dates, such as Tasks, Procurements, your organization's Events table and Content Management surfaces.
How Bars Are Drawn
Open View settings > Block to choose the dates a bar uses. Date / start date places the start of the bar. End date (optional) places its end; without one, each record is a one-day bar.
Add point marks another date field inside the bar and splits it there. An event bar can show its load in, show days and load out as separate slices of one bar, using the event's own date attributes, so the whole footprint of an event reads at a glance.
Grouping Rows
Resources by groups the timeline into rows by a field, so each row is one person, location or category and its bars sit side by side. On the organization Events table you can group by the event, its type, a collaborator, location, status, any event role, or one of your attributes. Hide empty resources removes rows with no bars.
Scale, Arrows and Colors
Scale sets how much time the timeline shows at once. Show block arrows points to bars that sit outside the visible range, so a row never looks empty when its work is just off screen. Color by colors bars by a field.
Rescheduling by Dragging
On pages that support it, drag a bar to move its dates or drag either end to change its start or end. This works on an event's Tasks, Procurements and their resources, a crew record's Schedule in the organization, and Content Management surfaces. Elsewhere the Gantt is read only.
On Procurements you can also select several bars and move them together, and hold Alt (Option on a Mac) while dragging to duplicate a bar.
